Pretty Pumpkinarias: Among the smallest of pumpkins, 'Baby Boo' and 'Sweet Lightning' make wonderful luminaries. Use a melon baller to hollow the fruits. Perforate them with a drill. Use two fender washers (1/8 x 3/4 inch) and a threaded nail help hold a tea light inside each little lantern and support its balancing act atop a bamboo stake.
Use: Pumpkin knife spoon marker drill Christmas lights Directions: Hollow pumpkin with a large circular opening in the bottom. Clean out the inside thoroughly with spoon. Transfer pattern: Rough out a design on paper first, then mark the dots on the pumpkin with a permanent marker. Drill holes in the pumpkin: Gripping the gourd securely near the stem and using a drill/driver, bore holes where you made markings. Pop in the lights and push a bulb halfway through each hole.
Take mini pumpkins and completely remove the stems (if it still has one), trace the outline of your tea light onto the top of the mini pumpkin and using a drill bit carve out the hole you will need. Don't go too deep, only go the same depth as the tealight. To preserve your mini pumpkin dip it into a solution of 1/4 cup bleach to 1 gallon water, allow to air dry. Once completely dry I wipe mine down so there are no spots and it's shiny, then put in your tea light and enjoy!
