Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, France is located in the Camargue region of southern France. It is formed by a delta of the Rhone River and has many marshes and lagoons. The region is famous for wild white horses, black bulls and flamingos. Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is the site of an annual pilgrimage of the Roma (also known as Gypsies). My students and I went swimming in the Mediterranean Sea while we were there. It was a beautiful day!
