Rails and wooden planks - that was the focus on our first stage of the Kungsleden . First we arrived by train from Kiruna, but the Swedish railway has once again thwarted our plans with its delay. If you think the German railway is late, you haven't been to Lapland by train yet! . Wanderempfehlung: Rötenbachschlucht . Nicht alle Premiumwanderwege halten was sie versprechen. Bei dem Genießerpfad durch die Rötenbachschlucht ist der Name jedoch Programm. Die Wege sind ganz überwiegend kleine Pfade, die sich auf etwa 11 km entlang des kleinen Flusses winden. Am Ende der Schlucht geht es hinauf auf den Aussichtspunkt Hörnle. Von hier aus kann man bis zum Feldberg gucken! . We enjoyed the beautiful sunshine hours with a walk along the Neckar river. Lando could not resist and started the bathing season at an outdoor temperature of two degrees. After the storms we had expected a cold front! Unfortunately there is no sign of the longed-for onset of winter. Nevertheless, our self-built bird house is well accepted. We have already seen great tits and blue tits, blackbirds, robins, bullfinches and nuthatches. Which birds come to your feeding places? Nach den Stürmen sollte doch eigentlich eine Kaltfront kommen! If you can't go trekking for several weeks at the moment, you can also discover exciting things and great places on weekend hikes or even during a short walk. We spent some time last weekend at the Ewaldsee in North Rhine-Westphalia: Right across from this great resting place there is a small island with a huge variety of water birds. Besides swans and grey herons, we also spotted some black coots and even a shy kingfisher. The sixth day on Kungsleden brings us really bad weather. It is raining heavily and we hike quite silently towards Kvikkjokk. Our shoes are soaking wet after only a few meters. Nevertheless we continue walking and keep our spirits up by the thought of a warm bed, good food, a sauna and a hot shower awaiting us in Kvikkjokk after several days outside.
