DSS-14. The 70-meter Antennae at Goldstone, CA. Twenty-four stories high, 230 feet across, it's one of only 3 in the world that are a part of the Deep Space Network. They overhauled the bearings on "World's Toughest Fixes" on NatGeo. Up close, it's just mindbogglingly huge, yet it turns amazingly fast for such a ginormous object. If you can visit any of the DSN complexes, do it. Goldstone requests a lot of security checks but they also have wild burros! And a great little museum. Photo by…

NASA's Deep Space Network (DSN) has been in partnership with Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 since 1977, providing daily communications support to the two very distant spacecraft. The excellent partnership continues as the Voyager twin spacecraft explore the regions of our universe near the area where the solar wind meets the interstellar winds – areas never before explored by human-made objects.
