I would truly love it if people understood this fact.  No matter how much you discipline the child, they will go back and do it again.  It takes time, patience, and gentle reminders to work towards fixing the negative attributes.  In our case, it has been medicine, a wonderful school, and a lot of creative thinking.

April is Autism Awareness Day. In a family with an Autistic child, EVERYDAY is Autism Awareness Day!

Just because I cannot speak, doesn't mean I cannot hear.

Even though this is for autism awareness the same goes for apraxia. Don't ever assume that a person who is non-verbal can't hear you. Likely, they can and they may even be far more intelligent than you. Think before you speak.
