Parvati is the Hindu goddess of life, power, and family. Her greatest role is that of the consort of Shiva. Even through her numerous incarnations, she is still loyal to him. She balances out his destruction. Many Hindu view the marriage of Shiva and Parvati as the ideal union.

She is seated on a ferocious tiger and manifests Herself to wipe out evil from the face of the earth. Vishnu and Durga share a deep bond, with the latter considering Her as His younger sister.
