Cute Classroom Inspiration - Cristina Celzo from Bronx, New York - SchoolgirlStyle

Cristina Celzo from Bronx, New York, sent in these amazing pictures of her rainforest theme. As my colleagues and I were brainstorming how to make trees in our classrooms, Cristina sent me these pictures at the perfect time. It looks as though she used a parachute on the ceiling to engulf the entire room with […]

"tree-mendous" apple tree with tissue paper ~ cute!

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

I told you I was on a roll. Here are the other outfits I have made and I am still going.

Pool Noodles are the secret to making palm trees. I taped two pool noodles together end to end with duct tape. Then I spray painted them brown. Each tree took about 100 lunch size paper sacks. I cut the bottoms off of all of them and then smooshed them down together. I slid the bags onto the pool noodles until I had the whole thing covered. The bottom and top bag got taped onto the pool noodle with masking tape and kinda scrunched around to cover up the tape....

Paper Bag Palm Trees

Why, Oh Why did it not occur to me to take some pictures of these palm trees in progress? Silly, I know! Pool Noodles are the secret to making palm trees. Beautiful classrooms

This year I've subbed in many classrooms that I would call beautiful. From brightly colored kinder classes, to the warm and inviting 1st and 2nd grade classes. Where I sub, the 3-5th grade are generally in portables, but even those can be transformed to warm and welcoming spaces. Trees seem to be a big theme this eyar. I was in a kinder class that had palm trees and butterflies suspended in the corner. The teacher was allowed to paint the walls and it's so pretty having 2 colors. Kids art…

Magic Tree House

I've always liked having a "tree" in my classroom to use for showing the change of seasons and for displaying children's artwork. It always makes for a good "group" project. This is how it looks in Sept., before we do anything to it. It is made of rolled kraft paper (in the mailing supply section of the store), and is velcroed to the wall. The trunk is stuffed with newspaper.

Outside the Lines: April 2007

I want to attempt making a classroom tree like this!

The Classroom Tree

The tree is back up in my classroom, with a new and improved look. I had to pull last year's tree down at the end of the year, but enjoyed it in the room so much that I wanted to put up another one this year. Fortunately, I learned several things last year that I wanted to improve on, which helped me improve on the tree design a bit. One thing I learned last year was the need to secure the tree "hole" better so that it didn't dip down into the trunk. The hole is made from a flower pot…
