Legion of Honor-Beautiful single flat scarlet flower (Lactiflora x Officinalis). Light green narrow foliage. Unusual and striking. 18-24". Early.
Topeka Garnet Peony — Countryside Gardens, Inc. - Peony Farm
(Bigger, 1975) Another fine introduction by Myron Bigger, this unique and striking garnet-colored single has been featured in Horticulture Magazine. Has the deepest dark red stem color as it emerges in the spring. Is floriferous and blooms mid-season, with a height of 30-36". American Peony Society Gold Medal Winner (2012).
Tish Peony — Countryside Gardens, Inc. - Peony Farm
(Tischler, 1972) Another Tischler introduction, named for his dog and field companion. A tall, very dark red Japanese type with a gold-tipped center. Blooms freely on strong healthy plants and holds well as a cut. Has a height of 30-36" and blooms mid to late season.
Red Charm Peony — Countryside Gardens, Inc. - Peony Farm
(Glasscock, 1944) One of the top true red hybrid peonies in the country. An early blooming true red with perfectly formed, bomb-shaped flowers. Strong stems hold the blooms erect. Excellent foliage. Has a height of 30-36" tall. American Peony Society Gold Medal Winner (1956).
Paeonia x Smouthii Peony — Countryside Gardens, Inc. - Peony Farm
(Van Houtte, 1843) This is an unusual hybrid of the popular fern leaf peony, with finely divided leaves and brilliant, single magenta red blooms with yellow stamens at center. It is earlier blooming than the fern leaf peony and rarely seen in the landscape. Often listed as the species Paeonia anomala, but easily identified as Paeonia x smouthii by the side buds. Extra early blooming with a height of 24-30".
