Alan Lee - I know this isn't supposed to be it, but this reminds me of the scene toward the end of Sabriel (under the castle, in the water, looking for her father), only, a bit too much light.... Art Graphique

The Kelpie, by Alan Lee. In Celtic folklore, the kelpie was a supernatural entity in the form of a horse which would lurk underwater with only its eyes showing, and attempt to lure people into its trap. They could be distinguished from 'normal' horses by their manes, which never stopped dripping. Magical Creatures, Fantasy Creatures, Folk Tales, Fairy Tales, Celtic Mythology

This is Alan Lee’s illustration in the end of ‘Leaf By Niggle’ “He was the sort of painter who can paint leaves better than trees. He used to spend a long time on a single leaf, trying to catch its shape, and its sheen, and the glistening of dewdrops on its edges. Yet he wanted to paint a whole tree, with all of its leaves in the same style, and all of them different.” — J.R.R. Tolkien, ‘Leaf By Niggle’ Leaf Drawing, Tree Drawing, Painting & Drawing, Pencil Drawings, Art Drawings, Painted Leaves, Leaf Art
