Pewter hands, solid casting, With silver leaves. Allegorical sculpture of the myth of Daphne and Apollo.  In Greek mythology Apollo, the son of Zeus fell in love with Daphne, daughter of river god Peneus. Apollo's affections were unrequited and in a desperate attempt to end his pursuit, Daphne turned herself into a Laurel tree. Apollo wore a Laurel wreath as a symbol of his affection for his lost love.
