Lena Mary Calhoun Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010) was an American singer, actress, civil rights activist & dancer. She joined the Cotton Club chorus at the age of 16, became a nightclub performer, & then moved to Hollywood where she was ultimately blacklisted for her political views. She returned to her roots as a nightclub singer & continued performing into the 1990s, disappearing from the public eye in 2000. There is no need to say anything more but 'The Cotton Club'. It is amazing that there are still original Cotton Clubs in the States and they still have the vibe of Prohibition era. I think this poster is an ad for the movie but it reminds me about the atmosphere of those clubs.
