In December 2011 Colonel Birgitte Brekke was invited to visit Greenland to explore the potential for Salvation Army work there. The colonel, along with the Chief Secretary took up that offer and visited Greenland subsequently filing a report to International Headquarters which recommended the commencement of Army work in Greenland without delay. The report was carefully studied by the International Management Council, under the chairmanship of the General, and approval was given to proceed.
