Heart Map for Writing: It's on writing about the things you love. You draw a big heart and then fill it with all those things. The teacher does one to model, and then your friends create their own. It is writing topic inspiration for your friends.

The Best Story - Great idea for Writer's Workshop at the beginning of the year.  It's great for teaching where writers get their ideas.  In the end, the main character learns that the best story comes from your heart.  After reading it, give each student a paper heart and they fill it with words/pictures of the things/people they love.
