I'm proud to say that my daughter can recite the Gayatri mantra (one of the oldest Sanskrit mantras) by heart: Om bhur bhuvah suvaha tat savitur varenyam bhargo devasya dheemahi dhiyo yo na prachodayath.
Om Nama Shivaya . . is a popular mantra in Hinduism and particularly in Shaivism. It means "I bow to Shiva." Shiva is the supreme reality, the inner Self. It is the name given to consciousness that dwells in all. Shiva is the name of your true identity- your self.
