Roger Mainwood’s animated video to the 1974 Kraftwerk song, “Autobahn”. Created in 1979, the trippy video wasn’t officially sanctioned by Kraftwerk (it’s not even known if they’ve ever seen it), but it sure fits the song. ...Which of course is stuck in my head now. “Wir fahren, fahren, fahren, auf der Autobahn...”

Kraftwerk's lyrics deal with post-war European urban life and technology—traveling by car on the Autobahn, traveling by train, using home computers, and the like. Usually, the lyrics are very minimal but reveal both an innocent celebration of, and a knowing caution about, the modern world. Many of Kraftwerk's songs express the paradoxical nature of modern urban life—a strong sense of alienation existing side-by-side with a celebration of the joys of modern technology

The race. The peloton. The breakaway. The fight and the freedom from gravity. The country where it all happens. Immortalised in music by a robotic German act who were so crazy about cycling that they took bikes on the road with them and rode into town behind their tour bus. Oui! This limited-edition print, designed by CycleLove founder James Greig, celebrates the collision of cycling and music that is Kraftwerk's song about the world's greatest race.
