Love this idea - I could even use fabric scraps for the letters!

Gift Wrap Tutorial for Type Lovers

This is a clay fish with a weaving inside. My Art club did a clay sculpture full of texture, glazed it in their choice of color and did a patterned weaving inside. Isn't it wonderful?!

Great idea- clay fish with a weaving inside. A clay sculpture full of texture, glazed in choice of color with a patterned weaving inside.

This took FOREVER and I have a callous on my index finger now from the exacto knife, but the result is breathtaking. I did the main wrapping in brown kraft paper and added gold lettering.

Wind Wolves: Razorback Mountain by Wayne Wong on Capture Kern County // We all have seen this mountain in David Clendenen's collection of awesome landscapes. It was a real treat to see it in person, and let David's images fill in the missing information... Notice the field of lupine in the foreground near the bottom of the frame. Our next stop would focus on a lupine patch right off the road on the north side mountain (to the right in this picture).

Wind Wolves: David's Back Yard by Wayne Wong on Capture Kern County // While I was cogitating over how to improve my lupine shots, David Clendenen set up right next to me, right by his SUV. It was a great opportunity to get a portrait of the artist in action. David is very smooth and graceful, with measured moves of great confidence...he knows what he wants and quietly gets the shot. He also used an LED remote light as fill. You couldn't ask for a better man to lead a trip like…

Wind Wolves: Butterfly on Lupine by Wayne Wong on Capture Kern County // We stopped at a roadside access to a patch of lupine ensconced on a hillside. Every once in a while, light colored butterflies would flit across the patch at lightning speed. I only got one chance at one as it landed on a lupine at some distance. This crop captures the butterfly, and while the detail is diminished by the extreme cropping, it was better than getting nothing at all.

Wind Wolves: Blooming Thistle Sage by Wayne Wong on Capture Kern County // This capture demonstrates the value of using a 500 mm lens to isolate a flower...it was impractical get closer, and the ability to do a large crop saved the day. The image is very sharp, even though highly cropped; you can see the individual hairs on the thistle, as well as the many pointed barbs. Taken at the 5000 ft level at our third stop at the lupines.

Wind Wolves: Red-Tailed Hawk at the Lupine Stop by Wayne Wong on Capture Kern County // Somehow, I got this shot of a red-tailed hawk during our third stop on the sunrise to sunset adventure...it flew right over our position, about a minute before I got my one and only butterfly shot...hmmm wonder if there is a connection?
