Reichstag Fire - March 1933
Before the Reich Court in Leipzig: The Defendant Marinus van der Lubbe with his Interpreter (September 24, 1933). He was charged with setting fire to The Reichstag in Berlin.
Marinus van der Lubbe was accussed of setting fire to the Reichstag on February 27th, 1933. He was sentenced to death and beheaded on January 10th, 1934. Historians believe the arson was planned by the Nazis as a false flag operation. On January 8th, 2008 a German court ruled that the sentence against Van der Lubbe had to be withdrawn stating he was not guilty of the crime that gave Hitler the opportunity to implement the Reichstag Decrees with which democracy was put out of order.
Marinus (Rinus) van der Lubbe (13 January 1909 – 10 January 1934) was a Dutch council communist convicted of, and executed for, setting fire to the German Reichstag building on 27 February 1933, an event known as the Reichstag fire.
