Leonard Trask (1805-1861) was known in the sideshow as 'The Wonderful Invalid'. He had a series of accidents starting in his late 20s that severely bent his spine. He was thrown from a horse, landing on his neck, and subsequently fell from a wagon and was in a coach accident. He was diagnosed post mortem with ankylosing spondylitis, which was exacerbated by his accidents.

However, it can also be associated with certain medical conditions which include Marfan syndrome, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and homocystinuria. *sorry, image not photoshopped.
