Schloss Moritzburg (Moritzburg Castle), Dresden, Saxony, Germany was originally built as a hunting lodge in the The interior has been substantially remodeled and the surrounding park has been developed since then. It was built on an artificial island.
Schloss Moritzburg is located north-west of Dresden. One of the most impressive Baroque castle complexes in Central Europe, this Baroque castle stands on the end of a long avenue on an island in the middle of an artificial castle pond. The mighty hunting lodge with its four five-story circular towers and the three-story central block fits harmoniously into a beautiful pond and woodland. This work of art of great effect is probably the most visited destination outside of Dresden in Saxony.
