Dresden in Saxony, Germany. Once known as the 'Florence of the Elbe'. A winter view over the Elbe river. On the right is the Semper Oper, opera house, on the left is the dome of the Frauenkirche. Dresden was a city of ruins after a massive WWII air raid by the Allies which began February 13th, 1945. Since German reunification in 1990 restoration work has helped reconstruct parts of the historic inner city, including the Semper Oper and the Frauenkirche.
