1985:Designer Victor Edelstein has said that the dresses he made for the princess were a collaboration: "You each make suggestions and ask, 'What do you think?'" In the case of this white gown and bolero, the partnership paid off. Years after she wore it to a New York event, she chose a photo of herself in the ensemble for the cover of her Christie's auction catalog.

Designer Victor Edelstein shares fond memories of Princess Diana

Victor Edelstein designed this black lace off-the-shoulder style dress which covers a magenta pink silk underskirt. This gown is one of Diana's very feminine early styles. Her usual accessory with this gown was a long string of faux pearls. She wore it on a visit to Hamburg Germany for a banquet in November 1987. Also in 1987, Diana wore it to Festival Hall in London, covering it with a velvet cape. Lot #56 raised $ 25,300 for Diana's charities.
