Lt. Ewald-Heinrich von Kleist, who died at the age of 90 on March 8, 2013, was one of the conspirators involved in the "July 20 Plot" to kill Adolf Hitler with a bomb in 1944. Lt. von Kleist was one of a select group of officers who were to lead a coup in Berlin after Hitler was killed. The bomb did not kill the Führer, however, and dozens of conspirators including Lt. von Kleist's father were arrested and executed. Lt. von Kleist was the last surviving member of the plot.
