Anatomy of the female reproductive system; drawing shows the uterus, myometrium (muscular outer layer of the uterus), endometrium (inner lining of the uterus), ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, and vagina.
The Female Reproductive System: eggs are produced in the ovaries, one per month, with ovaries alternating. These are transported into the uterus. During reproductive sex, sperm from a male is deposited in the vagina. The sperm travels into the uterine tubes where it may fertilize an egg. The resulting embryo grows in the uterus.
