Tycho Brahe certainly used the scientific method. He first asked questions about planetary motion and stars. Then he determined the precise motion of these bodies, analyzed his data, made conclusions, and published his work.

The Scientific Method; media tends to publish "health" articles at the Observational or Hypothesis stage, which can be dangerous without acceptance via clinical trial (and even then questions as to the validity of the trial must be asked). Remember to ask Why.
