Silent Contours

Silent Contours / For this month’s “Silent Contours” challenge we want you to get inspired by irregular shadows, linear lines and delicate details. Think of the structures around you that cast shadows and light against industrial walls, and the subtle metallic details found in obscure places. In contrast to hard lines, overlay with fluid brush strokes in our moody color palette.

Pastel Abstraction / For this month’s scarves challenge, we’ve decided to indulge our sweet tooth with a delectable array of sugary shades in our “Pastel Abstraction” challenge. Think simple poster style graphics in vintage sweet shop shades of candy floss pink and lemon sherbet; or contrast soft clouds of baby blues and dreamy purples with bold geometric forms. Think tiny intricate patterns, formed with all the precision of a laser, explosions of detail and elaborate designs. Stone Age / Stone Age is held as the last period of the Ice Age, where the climate gradually becomes warmer and nature bursts with the last breath of frozen beauty. Mountain peaks are starting to reveal their rock surfaces and glacier streams are slowly formed, covered in a blanked of ice blue. For this month’s scarves design challenge we want you to explore all signs of existence buried under a deep freeze and reflecting the natural evolution of time.

Modernism / The humble check has sprung back into the collective fashion consciousness! The origins of this traditionally woven print can be traced back over 2000 years, yet the pattern seems embedded into the fabric of modern urban life. From rigidly defined grids of traffic to the checkered patterns of windows of high rise buildings, every modern metropolis sports its own clannish tartan..it’s time to check your city out!

Nocturnal / Nocturnality is a form of crypsis, an adaptation to avoid or enhance predation. Predators hunt at night as their prey suffer from poor night vision. Other species are active at night, because their predators are diurnal. Yet in the darkness, there appears to be a mystical multitude of colors, a fascinating dark iridescence. For this month’s scarves design challenge want you to explore the strange nature of nocturnal animals.

Silence in Kyoto / Japan is often described as a land of contradictions; where futuristic technological visions integrate almost seamlessly into a culture of strong traditions and refined simplicity. And for this month’s “Silence In Kyoto” scarves challenge, it’s time to put down the gadgets and video games and return to old Japan, with its intricate rituals and elegant minimalism.
