Apr 16, 1881 Bartholomew "Bat" Masterson has his final gunfight in Dodge City, KS in defense of his younger brother Jim. Jim was in a dispute with a business partner and employee that had lead to gunfire, but no one was harmed as yet. Bat took the train from Tombstone & confronted the men. A gunfight ensued. A bystander is wounded and one participant is shot in the lung. Bat paid  fine and took the train out of Dodge City that evening.

William Bartholomiew Bat Masterson born November 1853 He served as a Deputy Marshal under Wyatt Earp in Dodge City, Kansas. Later elected Sheriff of Ford County Kansas. Later became a sports write in New York.
