Animals in Art - Pablo Picasso
'Bull - plate 11', January 17, 1946, Pablo Picasso, (lithograph), France. "At this penultimate stage, the more complex areas of the line drawing are removed to leave only a few basic lines and shapes that characterise the fundamental forces and correlation of forms in the creature. In the final print of the series, Picasso reduces the bull to a simple outline... that it captures the absolute essence of the creature in as concise an image as possible."

Picasso Bull Console Pablo Picasso sketched is a famous series of Bull plates made in December 1945. A deconstruction and devolution of the creature to an abstract geometry. Eleven lithographs in total become a masterwork of bringing realism to abstractionism. Since then, the bull has become a central theme of many of Picasso's future works. A mysterious metaphor, perhaps representing the heart of Spain and his own self image.
