The case of pistols once belonged to Prince Felix of Schwarzenburg, a 19th century Austrian statesman. Felix was a respected ambassador in Europe, resulting in his election as minister-president and foreign minister of Austria in 1848. The pistols are thought to have been a gift to Felix following his appointment as minister-president. They were made by the noted French firearms manufacturer Le Page, a company renowned for its regal clientele.
