ABBA, 1975

You couldn't turn on the TV or radio in the without seeing or hearing Abba.

ᗅᗺᗷᗅ won their national heats on Swedish television on February 9, 1974, and with this third attempt were far more experienced and better prepared for the Eurovision Song Contest. Winning the 1974 Contest on April 6, 1974 gave ᗅᗺᗷᗅ the chance to tour Europe and perform on major television shows; thus the band saw the "Waterloo" single chart in many European countries. "Waterloo" was ᗅᗺᗷᗅ's first number one single in big markets such as the UK and Germany.

Two memories here, ABBA winning Eurovision and the start of a decade of Swedish happy pop and the Eurovision Song Contest when it was innocent of politics and we stood any sort of a chance of winning.
