Every summer my family vacations on Bald Head Island, just off the coast of Wilmington, NC. This is he Bald Head Lighthouse (aka Old Baldy) it was built in 1817 and is the oldest standing lighthouse in North Carolina.

North Ronaldsay Lighthouse is located on the most northerly of the Orkney Islands and is bordered on the west by the Atlantic Ocean and the east by the North Sea. This lighthouse is the tallest land-based lighthouse in the British Isles, and the view from the top is superb. On a clear day you can see north to Fair Isle in Shetland. The lighthouse is 139 feet tall and was automated on 30 March 1998.
