The Arab Army was an army in name only. They first began attacking well armed Ottoman posts with disatrous results. The British seized the opportunity and began arming them. They sent a young lingusistic scholar with no military background to help advise them. Col. T.E. Lawrence fundamentally changed the Arab Revolt. He came up with the tactic of attacking the vulnerable Hejaz railway that supplied the Ottoman garrisons rather than the garisons themselves.
