In this episode, we shall talk about the seventh Sikh Guru, Guru HarRai and his unique leadership of the Sikhs during the turbulence of the 17th century in India. Guru HarRai was only 14 years old when he assumed the Guruship, and had two immediate tasks at hand – the first was to protect the ideals of the Sikh faith first laid by Guru Nanak and second to defend the Sikhs from the atrocities of the Mughal ruler Shah Jahan.

This is related to seventh Sikh Guru, Guru HarRai and his unique leadership of the Sikhs during the turbulence of the century in India. He set up Medical care center and propagated greener environment.

Wow here's an absolutely marvelous painting of Sri Harmandir Sahib (The Adobe of God) by Bhagat Singh depicting its early years when it was first built under the direction of the 5th Sikh Guru Sri Guru Arjan Dev Jee between the 16th - 17th century.  I love how this painting not only displays the early years of Harmandir Sahib but if you look closely you'll see that the reflection in the water is of the current Harmandir Sahib adorned in gold and is the reason Harmandir Sahib is informally…

Tyranny of Mir Mannu, Governor of Lahore (1748-1753): Mannu ordered slaughtering the Sikh. The captured Sikhs were beaten with wooden mallets.  To break will and high spirits of Sikh women, they were made to watch their children pierced by the spears.  Cut into pieces and put as a necklace to their mothers.  Dogs ate their flesh.There now stands Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj, Lahore. "We are like plants and Mannu a sickle, all know. The more he cuts us, the more we grow."
