Fountains Abbey is ca. three miles south west of Ripon in North Yorkshire, ENGLAND, near the village of Aldfield. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for over 400 years, until 1539, when Henry VIII ordered the Dissolution of the Monasteries. It is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. The abbey is owned by the National Trust and part of the designated Studley Royal Park, including the Ruins of Fountains Abbey UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We always stay at Marais House in Paris, It's the perfect spot for mooching around the independent stores in the Marais. Ambassade d'Auvergne on rue du Grenier Saint-Lazare does the best (and biggest) chocolate mousse that I have ever eaten!
Considered one of the most haunted castles in Great Britain, Chillingham Castle was the first line of defence against a Scottish invasion during Edward I’s reign. As a result, its history is quite violent and bloody. Many people were hanged, drawn and quartered here. The dungeons in particular are said to be a hotspot for paranormal activity.
