Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947) – was a world-renowned artist, writer, archaeologist, scholar, explorer, and mystic. In 1920, he and his wife Helena founded the Agni Yoga Society, which they also referred to as "the system of living ethics." He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize on three occasions and his creation of the Pax Cultura is known as the “Red Cross” of art and culture. Roerich once said:  “The evolution of the New Era rests on the cornerstone of Knowledge and Beauty.”
