Helleborus Argutifolius from Burncoose Nurseries

Smyrnium perfoliatum is one of my favourite spring foliage plants for the garden and to pick with tulips and wallflowers. It looks good in the garden for months and has a vase life of three weeks.

These cut flowers will look great in the garden.

Sanguisorba tenuifolia purpurea

Pretty mounds of divided green foliage topped in high summer by the most wonderful spikes of pendulous dark red flowers. - Planting Density: Plants Per Square Metre Pot Size: 2 Litre

This fully deciduous South African agapanthus species can be found in open meadows in the Drakensberg and surrounding mountain ranges. The clumps of strap-like green leaves are topped in July with 2' tall spikes of dark purple-black pendulous flowers in July...a very nice lily-of-the-Nile selection that is also a favorite hummingbird flower.

Eryngium agavifolium

This Bloomday is special, not because of what’s blooming in my garden, but because at the GB Fling last month in Seattle I got to meet Caro.

Geranium maculatum 'Espresso', cranesbill. A great plant for moist shade, it carpets the ground with loose mounds of deeply lobed, reddish-brown foliage. This provides a great backdrop for the pale lavender pink flowers which appear in late spring and early summer. Perfect for softening the edges of a path or the front of a border, they will flower best in a sunnier spot.
