Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich Alexander von Humboldt ( September 14, 1769 – May 6, 1859) was a Prussian geographer, naturalist, and explorer.

Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich Alexander von Humboldt ( September 1769 – May was a Prussian geographer, naturalist, and explorer.

Originally built in 1906 in Germany and operated throughout the North and Baltic Seas until being retired in 1986.  She was then converted into a three masted barque and was re-launched in 1988 as the 'Alexander von Humboldt'.   In 2006 to celebrate her 100th anniversary, she sailed round Cape Horn.
