Só onthou ek Suid-Afrika. Koeksisters | 250 ml meelblom hoogvol, 12,5 ml mielieblom, 15ml bakpoeier, 12,5ml margarien, 375ml melk, Metode: Sif droë bestanddele en vryf margarien in. Klits eiers en melk. Maak aan tot sagte deeg. Knie vir 12 minute. Plaas oornag in koelkas. Gebruik net gedeeltes van die deeg en laat res in die koelkas. Rol deeg en sny in repies. Braai in diep olie. Dompel dadelik in yskoue stroop.

A koeksister comes from the Dutch word koekje, which translates to “cookie”. It is a South African syrup-coated doughnut in a twisted or braided shape (like a plait).
