Marie-Antoinette’s Harp ~ her favorite instrument (her teacher was Philippe Joseph Hinner). The harp was made by Jean-Henri Naderman, The sound board has paintings of Peace & Minerva, patroness of artists.
A harp belonging to Marie Antoinette, created by H. Nadermann in the later quarter of the century. This queen had the most beautiful harps I have ever seen. There is another one in black posted on this page.
Single action pedal harp (pedals à sabots/crochets). Ribbons of bells and sprays of ivy interweave along the column, which rests upon a base ornamented with floral motifs. The soundboard sports figurines of putti and medallions alternating with floral designs; in the center are two exotic female dancers. The present blue color is actually slightly darker than the original. France, 1783.
