Fraser Smith, wooden quilt maker "Floating" 65" x 42 "x 4" Carved from linden wood using chisels, grinders, sander, scalpels & dental instruments. About 80% of the work on a piece consists of sanding. An average quilt takes about three months, but some up to six months. As I create these things from an unusual medium, it causes the viewer to pause & look at the object. I don’t carve exact replicas of fabric, but something that looks like what our mind interprets as a substance.
