Weathering, Erosion, or Deposition? This post includes teaching tips and a free sorting activity to help students understand these earth science concepts dealing with landforms.

Weathering, Erosion, or Deposition?

Weathering, erosion, and deposition are difficult concepts for students to grasp because all three processes seem similar at first. This free sorting activity from Laura Candler will help your students learn to distinguish between them.

Weathering, Erosion, or Deposition? Strategies for teaching students how landforms are created through weathering, erosion, and deposition. Includes free cooperative learning sorting activity from Laura Candler.

Weathering, Erosion, or Deposition?

Earth Science - Weathering, Erosion, or Deposition? Strategies for teaching students how landforms are created through weathering, erosion, and deposition. Includes free cooperative learning sorting activity from Laura Candler.

Teaching a unit on erosion? Use a pan of dirt to show erosion caused by wind (hair dryer), water, or glacier (ice cubes).

With this experiment, students will be able to see and explain how wind, water, and glaciers erode the landscape.

Shoreline Science: Exploring the Erosive Energy of Waves - Scientific American

Displays what water does to the shoreline along the ocean. Beaches are made by the erosion of rock formations that are pushed and pulled across the shore by the waves.

Minds in Bloom is pleased to present Bethany Lau with her post on teaching heredity. We think you’ll enjoy it!    Science in elementary school should be all about fun.  In fact…

Teaching Heredity in Elementary School

Teaching heredity in elementary school can be really fun and informational for younger students! This post shares a fun activity for teaching heredity.

FREE FORCES OF NATURE ACTIVITY~ Students guess what force of nature-- water, wind, earthquake, etc.-- causes the change in the earth's surface. Then they select the time-- 100 years, 10,000 years, etc. The program shows the changes when the student correctly guesses. Cool!

FREE FORCES OF NATURE ACTIVITY - Interactive ~ Students guess what force of nature (water, wind, earthquake.) and the amount of time it take to cause the change in the earth's surface.

Learning Lab Resources: Erosion and Landforms Science Activity - With A Freebie!

Erosion and Landforms Science Activity - This science experiment feels more geared to moving water, but I could tweak it and make it work for how I want. The basic principles are there.
