Wayne Morris left a successful acting career to be a Hellcat pilot during WW2. He was credited with 57 missions and shooting down of 7 enemy aircraft qualifying him as Ace. Served aboard the USS Essex in the Pacific Theater. He earned 3 Distinguished Flying Crosses & 2 Air Medals. He returned to acting after the war but 4 year absence cost him a burgeoning stardom. Most memorable as actor in title role “Kid Galahad” ’37 & as Roget in “Paths to Glory” ’57.
