A general purpose knife that was also used as a close quarters' weapon. The "seax" was also said to be the origin of the term "Seaxon" or "Saxon" - ie the people of the knife.

The gems and embedded stones show a wealth and complexity. They make the blade feel ceremonial.

I've seen some great pictures of Scandinavian and Continental seax sheaths, but haven't yet come across any detailed info on sheaths for broken back seax.
