Alfred, Hereditary Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1874 – 1899), was the only son of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, second oldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.  In 1898, He shot himself on January 22, 1899 and died two weeks later at the age of 24.
