It was originally a wedding present to the mother of Queen Alexandrine of Denmark. Her mother was the Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia and she married the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Then, - a sapphire necklace  also used as a tiara. The daughter - Princess Caroline-Mathilde,had the elements moved around, some diamonds and diamond elements were added. Her son Count Christian inherited the tiara from his mother, here Grevinde Anne-Dorthe wears it.

The same sapphire and diamond tiara given by Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna of Russia to her daughter, Queen Alexandrine of Denmark has passed its way down to Countess Anne-Dorthes of Rosenborg, wife of Queen Margethe II's cousin.
