Die Schatzinsel - Robert Louis Stevenson

Robert Louis Stevenson..“The best things are nearest: breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of God just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain common work as it comes certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things of life.”

Robert Louis Stevenson, author of Kidnapped, Treasure Island, and other well-loved novels.

The Very Brief Legal Career of Robert Louis Stevenson

Robert Louis Stevenson during his brief legal career (he undertook it to please his father, but he was always destined to be a writer)

Robert Louis Stevenson~ His own life was nearly as colourful as his novels, culminating with his 3 long sea voyages in the Pacific and his ultimate settlement in Samoa. Stevenson usually looks great-eyed and hollow-cheeked in pictures, and indeed was a lifelong sufferer of some chest-ailment - whether tuberculosis or bronchitis or another disease is unknown… Robert Louis Stevenson, 1890s - platinum print, by Notman of Boston (NPG, London)
