circa 1853 Found from another board with that date. All research states 1856 when the crinoline came into fashion. If anyone does find primary sources stating other wise and cite them I would be most appreciative.. Until then I will go with what "English Women's Clothing in the 19th Century","Costume in Detail", "History of Costume", "Godey's Ladys Book" all state.
