"Fahne Karls des Großen" (Heroldsrock), 14. Jahrhundert und um 1880 -- The embroidery is an example of a medieval original of unknown origin turned into a historicized construct. Regarded as Charlemagne's flag it was kept in the Neustadt am Main monastery until the 19th century. The embroideries no longer had their original form and were joined in a long strip.
