Die Runaways, (1975 bis 1979) fanden in den USA nur mäßige Aufmerksamkeit, was zum Teil an dem Image lag, das Fowley für die Band geschaffen hatte – junge Mädchen, die Sex, Alkohol und das Leben auf der Straße besangen – und wurden nur ungern im Radio gespielt.
