Collected in Akron Ohio, this quilt pieced of wool suiting strips is a personal interpretation of a log cabin or basketweave block, simple in execution but one I have never seen before. Tied rather than quilted through to anchor the layers, but not heavy despite the suiting fabrics in it. Supple and varied in the many fabrics and weaves.

Rural quilters like Susana Hunter would not have had the space to easily view their designs as a whole as they were laying out the pieces.

I started quilting after visiting a Susana Allen Hunter exhibit at the Henry Ford a few years ago.
