Lottice Howell's musical career from the late 1920's to the early 1940's, began with appearances in opera, but it was her ability to sing semi-classical and popular music which brought her success. She was referred to as "a glamorous lyric-coloratura soprano of exquisite color and wide range." She starred in musicals and film and also had her own national radio show which was aired by NBC. During the War years, she toured the South and donated one half of ticket sales to the Red Cross.
